Please read these Terms carefully before using PlayMates. By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Introduction
Welcome to PlayMates ("we", "our", "us", "the Platform"). PlayMates is a real-money trivia gaming platform that allows registered users in Kenya to compete against each other using coins that have real monetary value. By registering an account and using the PlayMates platform at www.playmates.co.ke, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use PlayMates.
2. Eligibility
To use PlayMates, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a resident of Kenya.
- Have a valid, active M-Pesa account registered in your name.
- Have a valid email address.
- Not be prohibited from participating in real-money gaming under any applicable law.
By creating an account, you confirm that you meet all eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to request proof of eligibility at any time and to suspend accounts that do not meet these requirements.
3. Account Registration
To use PlayMates, you must create an account by providing a unique username, a valid email address, a secure password, and your M-Pesa phone number.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at puzzlesplay@zohomail.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
You may only create one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent suspension of all associated accounts.
4. Coins and Exchange Rate
PlayMates uses a virtual currency called Coins. The exchange rate is fixed at:
1 Coin = 1 Kenyan Shilling (KSH)
Coins have real monetary value and can be deposited and withdrawn. Coins are not transferable between accounts and have no value outside the PlayMates platform.
5. Deposits
You can fund your PlayMates account by depositing money via M-Pesa. The following rules apply:
- Minimum deposit: KSH 50 (50 Coins)
- Deposits are processed via M-Pesa STK Push — you will receive a prompt on your phone to enter your PIN.
- Coins are credited to your account once the M-Pesa payment is confirmed.
- PlayMates does not store your M-Pesa PIN or any payment credentials.
- All deposits are final. We do not offer refunds on deposited funds except in cases of verified technical errors on our part.
Deposits are processed through IntaSend, our authorised payment processor. By making a deposit, you also agree to IntaSend's terms of service.
6. Withdrawals
You can withdraw your Coins as real money to your M-Pesa account. The following rules apply:
- Minimum withdrawal: KSH 100 (100 Coins)
- Withdrawals are sent directly to the M-Pesa number registered on your account.
- Withdrawal processing times depend on M-Pesa and may take up to 24 hours.
- PlayMates reserves the right to delay or withhold withdrawals pending fraud investigation.
- Withdrawals are final once processed. PlayMates is not responsible for funds sent to an incorrect M-Pesa number provided by the user.
7. Gameplay Rules
7.1 Challenging a Player
- Any player who marks themselves as available can be challenged by another player.
- Both players must agree on the stake amount and game duration before starting.
- A player can decline any challenge without penalty.
7.2 Staking
- Both players must stake an equal amount of Coins to start a game.
- You must have sufficient Coins in your account to cover the stake.
- Once a game begins, stakes are locked and cannot be changed or refunded.
7.3 Winning and Losing
- The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
- In the event of a tie, the stakes are returned to both players minus the platform fee.
- The winner receives 80% of the total combined stakes.
- PlayMates retains 20% of the total combined stakes as a platform fee.
- Results are final. Disputes must be raised within 24 hours via puzzlesplay@zohomail.com.
7.4 Fair Play
- You must not use any automated tools, bots, or scripts to play on your behalf.
- You must not collude with other players to manipulate game outcomes.
- You must not exploit bugs or glitches. Any discovered bugs must be reported to us immediately.
- Violation of fair play rules will result in immediate account suspension and forfeiture of all Coins.
8. Platform Fees
- Game fee: 20% of the total combined stakes per game (deducted from winnings automatically).
- Withdrawal fee: None.
We reserve the right to change our fee structure with 7 days' notice posted on the platform.
9. Prohibited Activities
- Money laundering or using the platform to process illegal funds.
- Creating multiple accounts.
- Using false identity information during registration.
- Attempting to hack, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the platform.
- Using the platform if you are under 18 years of age.
- Any form of cheating, collusion, or match-fixing.
- Threatening or harassing other players.
10. Account Suspension and Termination
PlayMates reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violation of these Terms, fraudulent or suspicious activity, failure to meet eligibility requirements, or inactivity for more than 12 consecutive months.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at puzzlesplay@zohomail.com. Any remaining Coin balance above the minimum withdrawal amount will be paid out to your M-Pesa account.
11. Limitation of Liability
- We are not liable for any losses caused by M-Pesa outages, delays, or errors.
- We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorised access to your account due to your failure to keep your password secure.
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the Coin balance in your account at the time of the claim.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use of PlayMates after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
